NU received 3282 applications for the 2013-2014 school year

For the first time at NU gender balance was reached with an equal number of females and males – 1641/1641. The University received applications from all regions of Kazakhstan and other countries (Azerbaijan, India, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, USA, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan). 20% of the registered applicants are from Astana, 19% from Almaty, and about 8% from East Kazakhstan Oblast. Atyrau, North Kazakhstan, Mangystau oblasts had the fewest applicants, 2% per each region. The most popular faculties are the School of Engineering – chosen by 38% of applicants; the School of Humanities and Social Sciences by 34%; and the School of Science and Technology by 29%. Last Sunday, on February 3 Astana and Almaty had the APTIS exam (English proficiency test). In March 2013 NU will begin to admit students to the bachelor’s degree program without the obligatory Foundation program. The entry requirements and the online application form for this new system will be also made available at the University’s website. Currently NU runs admission procedures for graduate program applicants to the Graduate School of Business, Graduate School of Public Policy and Graduate School of Education. Government scholarships are available for graduate students. About 1500 students are studying at NU. Six university schools offer master and bachelor academic programs.
