Medical Services and Health Protection

Nazarbayev University provides comprehensive and accessible healthcare services to support the health and well-being of the University community. At the center of this system is the University Health Center, conveniently located on campus and providing direct access to primary, preventive and diagnostic healthcare.

Students, faculty and staff can access medical consultations, preventive care, diagnostic services and, where required, specialist and further medical care. The University also facilitates access to healthcare through Kazakhstan’s public healthcare system, supporting continuity of care both on and beyond the campus.

On-campus services are complemented by after-hours medical support, pharmacy services and other healthcare resources.

University Health Center

Nazarbayev University has its own on-campus medical center, the University Health Center (UHC). Since opening in January 2018, the UHC has become an integral part of the campus infrastructure. The UHC is staffed by highly qualified healthcare professionals who provide support across a broad range of medical needs.

The mission of the UHC is to provide high-quality medical and wellness services that enable every member of the community to maintain optimal health and pursue their academic, career and personal goals. Services include primary healthcare, preventive care, medical consultations, laboratory and diagnostic examinations, and access to specialist care. Services are accessed through the applicable public healthcare, voluntary health insurance or fee-for-service pathway.

Medical and specialist services at the UHC include general practitioners, a neurologist, psychiatrist, ophthalmologist, obstetrician-gynecologist, otorhinolaryngologist (ENT specialist), dentist, clinical psychologist and social worker.

Location: Blocks D7–D8 (24–25)/can be accessed via the skywalk between the Atrium and Blocks D5–D8 (22–25), or from outside through the entrances to Blocks D5 (22) and D7 (24).

Doctor on duty

For urgent medical situations outside UHC opening hours, an on-call medical office operates on campus. If your condition does not require an ambulance, we recommend contacting the on-call doctor.

Working hours: Monday–Friday: 20:00–08:00

Weekends and public holidays: 24/7

On-campus Pharmacy

On-campus pharmacy services provide convenient access to medicines, health products and other pharmacy essentials for members of the University community.

Health Insurance

Nazarbayev University supports access to healthcare through a combination of on-campus medical services, Kazakhstan’s public healthcare system, and health insurance programs available to eligible members of the NU community.

The scope of coverage and access procedures depend on individual status and applicable terms. Students, international students, faculty and staff may request relevant insurance information in order to understand available coverage, healthcare providers and procedures for receiving care.
