The leadership of Nazarbayev University (NU) ensures the University’s strategic development and effective day-to-day operation. Its responsibilities include the development of internal policies, financial and resource management, coordination of academic and administrative units, engagement with governmental and international partners, and the assurance of high standards in education and research in compliance with international best practices.
NU’s internal operational leadership structure includes:
- The Managing Council – the primary executive body
- The Academic Council – the body responsible for academic and educational matters
- The Research Council – the body responsible for research matters
Managing Council
The Managing Council is a collective executive body responsible for the operational management of the University. Acting in accordance with the decisions of the Supreme Board of Trustees and the Board of Trustees, it provides overall leadership of the University’s daily operations and ensures the practical implementation of its development strategy. The Managing Council is accountable to the Board of Trustees.
The Managing Council consists of:
- The President of NU
- The Provost
- The Executive Vice President
- The Vice President for Medicine – Dean of School of Medicine
- Vice Presidents overseeing respective portfolio
