All 2nd year SSH students, Kamila Bissenkulova majoring in Political Science and International Relations, Aknur Kalilayeva studying Mathematics, and future sociologist Zhaniya Kakim have participated in The Study of the U.S. Institutes for Young Women Leaders program.
The SUSI Women’s Global Leadership Consortium includes University of Delaware, University of Kansas, Green River College, and St. Mary’s College.
The intensive short-term academic program aims to give undergraduate leaders a deeper understanding of the United States and enhance their leadership skills.
Every year each Institute hosts 20 participants who will learn about Civic Engagement, Economic Empowerment, Environmental Issues, and Public Policy. Students attend a balanced series of seminar discussions, readings, group presentations, and lectures during a four-week academic residency. Site visits, leadership development, cultural activities, and community service complement the coursework and educational sessions.
Kazakhstan has four slots for the strongest candidates for the SUSI Women’s Leadership program. They must be highly motivated and demonstrate leadership through academic work, community involvement, and extracurricular activities.
