Stanford University researchers prepare an annual ranking of the world’s best scientists based on a systematic bibliometric study. It has two databases: one based on the entire career path of scientists, the other based on achievements over the past year. NU (NU) scientists are among the top 2% of scientists in the world based on the impact of their publications in their respective fields in 2021, according to the latest data published on November 3, 2022.

The database provides information on about 200 thousand scientists’ activities, including citations, h-index, which reflects the number of publications and sources, hm-index, which takes into account publications written in co-authorship, and on the composite index (c-score). The calculations are based on all author profiles of Scopus, the unified bibliographic database of peer-reviewed scientific literature, as of September 1, 2022.

According to Scopus, the number of NU publications in the most prestigious Q1 journals in the last five years has increased and amounted to more than 1/3 of all scientific articles published in Q1 journals by Kazakhstani universities. Another indicator of how often scientific publications of the university are cited by other researchers is the Increasing Field-Weighted Citation Impact (FWCI). For the past five years, it has been 1.34. In other words, NU publications are cited 34% more than the world average.
