Professor and Vice Dean for Academic Affairs of the NU Graduate School of Public Policy Riccardo Pelizzo wrote the book “The Culture of Accountability. A Democratic Virtue” with Gianfranco Pasquino, Italian political scientist and Professor at the University of Bologna. The book topped the most popular online magazine, Amazon kindle charts. The book was 1st in Public Affairs and Administration section and 2nd in Non-US Legal Systems and International Relations fields.
In the book, the authors discuss the many complex ways institutional, political, historical, and cultural factors promote or prevent the political system’s accountability. Read an interview with the Professor about his book here.
Dr Pelizzo focuses on political development issues, institutional reform, and institutional performance in developing countries. He designed measures and benchmarks for assessing parliaments’ capacity and performance. Currently, the professor is working on devising diagnostic tools to measure political stability and other dimensions of good governance.
