NU Students Visit Leading Industrial Companies in China

Ten NU students took part in the CNPC E-Light Silk Road Energy Youth Camp, an international programme held in Beijing and Xi’an. The camp was organised by China University of Petroleum-Beijing (CUPB), with support from CNPC Central Asia Russia Company.

The programme combined academic learning, industrial site visits and cultural exchange. At CUPB, students explored the university’s history museum and research laboratories and attended lectures on energy security and the transition to low-carbon technologies.

The participants also visited CNPC headquarters, the Changqing Oilfield, and the facilities of BYD and LONGi, where they learned about the latest developments in the oil and gas industry, automotive manufacturing and renewable energy. Visits to Baidu, the Shijingshan Humanoid Robot Training Centre and an intelligent gas station gave students a closer look at how artificial intelligence, autonomous driving, robotics and digital technologies are being applied in practice.

By exploring research laboratories and industrial facilities, the students expanded their professional knowledge and gained a better understanding of how scientific research is translated into real-world industrial applications. The experience also introduced them to emerging career opportunities across various industries. A cultural programme featuring the Xi’an Museum and other historical landmarks offered further insight into China’s history and heritage.

The students’ participation in the camp marked another step in the growing cooperation between NU and CNPC. In addition to academic exchange, the two sides are exploring opportunities to collaborate on internships, graduate employment, research and engagement with industrial partners.
