The Graduate School of Business is working in strategic collaboration with Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business (USA). The Graduate School of Education also opened admissions to its Master of Science in Education program. The first academic semester begins in September 2013. The school has two strategic partners – University of Pennsylvania (USA) and Cambridge University (UK). The school offers scholarships, which will be available for the candidates.
At the same time NU has begun its admissions process for candidates in 2013-2014 for the Center for Preparatory Studies. Registration was launched on the University’s website on 9 November 2012, and will last until midnight of January 30th, 2013. The first entrance exam will be organized for Astana and Almaty candidates at the beginning of February 2013.
By January 17th, NU had registered more than 2300 applications from nine countries. The University accepts applications from all regions of Kazakhstan and other countries. 19.5% of the registered applicants are from Astana, 18% from Almaty, and about 10% from East Kazakhstan Oblast. Moreover, the Admissions Office has received 13 applications from such countries as Albania, India, China, Kyrgyz Republic, Russian Federation, the USA and Uzbekistan. The most popular faculties where people apply are the School of Engineering (mathematics and physics), the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (with special tests in critical thinking and mathematics), and the School of Science and Technology (mathematics and physics). 51% of the candidates are female. In Fall 2013, 506 Kazakhstanis began studying at the Center for Preparatory Studies at NU. Moreover 31 people have enrolled in university undergraduate programs directly, and two students from Petropavl and Almaty universities were eligible to transfer to NU. In 2013, 500 Kazakhstani government scholarships will be granted for Kazakhstani citizens who will study at the NU Foundation Program in 2013-2014. In addition to that, in March 2013 NU will open registration for transfer students and for a direct admissions program – also on a scholarship basis.
