On January 28, Nazarbayev University hosted EcoTalks, a discussion platform dedicated to pressing environmental issues in the field of waste management — from waste generation and separate collection to recycling, reuse, and the implementation of zero-waste practices. The event was organized by the NU Office of Sustainability.
EcoTalks brought together representatives of government agencies, the business sector, the academic community, environmental initiatives, and the student body. During the discussion, participants addressed key challenges in waste management, shared successful local recycling cases, examined the role of businesses in reducing environmental impact, and highlighted the contribution of science and universities to the development and promotion of sustainable solutions. Particular attention was paid to fostering environmental awareness and encouraging sustainable habits in everyday life.
The EcoTalks initiative reaffirms NU’s role as a leading research, educational, and dialogue platform on sustainable development in Kazakhstan.
