ABET accreditation assures that programs meet standards to produce graduates ready to enter critical technical fields that are leading the way in innovation and emerging technologies and anticipating the welfare and safety needs of the public.
The achievement reflects years of collaborative work by NU faculty, staff, students, University leadership and the accreditation support team.
“Taken together, these achievements are a strong testament to the dedication and professionalism of our faculty, students and staff, as well as their sustained commitment to excellence in teaching, learning, and research. I would also like to express our appreciation to our students for their active engagement throughout these accreditation processes. Your feedback, participation, and commitment to continuous improvement are an essential part of our university’s progress,” President NU Professor Waqar Ahmad noted.
Sought worldwide, ABET’s voluntary peer-review process is highly respected because it adds critical value to academic programs in the technical disciplines, where quality, precision and safety are of the utmost importance.
Developed by technical professionals from ABET’s member societies, ABET criteria focus on what students experience and learn. ABET accreditation reviews look at program curricula, faculty, facilities and institutional support and are conducted by teams of highly skilled professionals from industry, academia and government, with expertise in the ABET disciplines.
“We are proud of the continued progress of our academic community and of NU’s growing recognition against the highest international standards,” Rehan Sadiq, NU Provost, said.
For NU students and graduates, ABET accreditation provides an internationally recognized indication of the quality of their education, strengthening their profile with employers and supporting professional and academic mobility internationally. For NU, it reinforces the University’s commitment to maintaining rigorous academic standards and continuously improving its programs.
As of October 1, 2024, ABET accredits 4,773 programs at 930 colleges and universities in 41 countries and areas.
