70 poplar trees and 1,200 cotoneaster shrubs were planted on the NU campus

On October 18, the Office of Sustainable Development at Nazarbayev University, in collaboration with Terra Business Company, held an environmental workshop on tree planting and the maintenance of green spaces.

The event brought together active young people from Astana, including UNICEF volunteers. Participants not only gained hands-on experience in planting and caring for trees but also contributed to the greening of the campus and the improvement of the city’s ecosystem. As part of the workshop, the area was cleaned, and 70 poplar trees along with 1,200 cotoneaster shrubs were planted.

Such initiatives reflect Nazarbayev University’s commitment to fostering environmental responsibility among youth and engaging them in sustainable development practices. The University continues to implement environmental projects aimed at creating a greener and more comfortable space for students, staff, and visitors.

The Office of Sustainable Development at NU continues to build partnerships with organizations that share the values of environmental responsibility and actively encourages youth participation in creating a sustainable future for Kazakhstan.
