The Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) book corner was opened at NU Library on 16 November 2022. The official ceremony of the ribbon cutting was jointly led by His Excellency Dr. Mochamad Fadjroel Rachman, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia, His Excellency Dato’ Syed Mohamad Bakri bin Syed Abd Rahman, Ambassador of Malaysia, Her Excellency PHAM Thai Nhu Mai, Ambassador of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and Dr. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan, Chargé d’affaires, a.i. of the Royal Thai Embassy.
Mr. Shigeo Katsu, President of NU, Ms. Kadisha Dairova, Vice-President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation, and NU Library Director Mr. Jerald Cavanagh expressed their gratitude for the donated books and their cooperation with the University.
The ceremony was followed by the panel discussion where participants discussed and shared their thoughts on the role of the Kazakhstan-ASEAN member states’ cooperation and its future perspectives. The event concluded with a live music performance, social dance, and a reception with national snacks.
