The Institutional Research and Analytics Department at NU published the results of the Alumni Survey conducted in the Spring of 2022. The survey reached out to more than 2,000 alumni who completed their degrees between Spring 2015 and Summer 2018, i.e. the first four cohorts. Of them, 653 (25.1%, which is the highest response rate so far) replied.
According to the survey, three-quarters of the 2015-2018 NU alumni were employed full-time, with an additional 4% employed part-time and 16% pursuing further education. The majority of Employment outcomes were positive, as 95% of alumni had at least one paying job since graduating from NU. Two-thirds of working alumni found employment either at the time of graduation or within three months after.
Furthermore, 96% of working alumni found their NU experience useful in their job search. Analytical thinking (50%), professionalism (41%), and self-management (36%) were identified as the three skills that are most important to career and professional success.
Alumni were employed in various industries, including education, science, R&D, IT, telecommunication, banking/finance and insurance, and energy/oil/gas. As many as 21% reported having started their own business.
Continued education was pursued by nearly half of the alumni, with master’s degrees being the most common choice followed by doctoral degrees. Engineering and Technology emerged as the most popular field for further education.
The Institutional Research and Analytics Department recognizes the limitations of their survey, including non-respondent bias.
