We are happy to share the great news: six out of ten winners of the 2018 Research Internships in World Laboratories competition, sponsored by the S. YessenovFoundation, are students of NU…and all of them are the students of the School of Science and Technology! The 2018 Research Internships program aims to identify, select, and support ten talented students from Kazakhstan interested in research and science.
In 2017, NU students became winners of various national as well as international sport events. Men’s football team won the first place in FFA Astana Students’ League and took part in the Silk Way International Football Cup in Hannot city, China, and Women’s football team won the third place in the Astana Universiade Futsal Tournament.
On January 9th, 2018, a group of active students from NU School of Science and Technology (SST) has been accredited by the American Chemical Society as an International Student Chapter. – Just a year ago, we started collecting all necessary documents for the Chapter initiation.

On December 1st, 2017 the President of Kazakhstan met the winners of the Republican project “100 new faces”. Among the winners was Zarina Sautbayeva, the junior researcher and instructor of School of Science and Technology, NU.
On November 4-5, 2017 NU held the 2nd NU Alumni Reunion. This year Alumni Reunion was represented by a 2-day weekend program (Official part and Sport Festival).
On November 22, 2017, the First NU day was conducted in London, UK. NU was represented by the NU Alumni Chapter in UK Aliya Sembayeva, Adil Zharmukhambetov, graduates of the first 2015 NU cohort.
On the 27th of October, 2017 the President of NU Mr. Shigeo Katsu sealed a label onto the first batch of the medical device HeartStitch KwiKnotTM that was assembled by the “Educated Medical Solutions” LLP team at the NU Technopark site.
The Department of History, Philosophy and Religious Studies of School of Humanities and Social Sciences could not leave this anniversary date without any attention. NU in partnership with Gumilyov Eurasian National University and Buketov Karagandy State University had organised international conference “On the Periphery of Collapsing Empire: National Minorities and the 1917 Revolution”.
