Mirai Tech, a startup built on research developed at Nazarbayev University (NU), has taken second place at the WT Innovation World Cup USA 2026, an international competition showcasing innovations in wearable technologies held in Silicon Valley.
Mirai Tech develops technology for biomechanical analysis that enables athletes’ movements to be assessed during training and competition. The solution helps track changes in movement, manage training loads, and identify factors that may indicate an increased risk of injury.
Mirai Tech was represented at the competition by Takhirlan Seidakhmetov, an NU and Stanford University graduate who leads AI and Data at the startup. He previously worked at Meta and Apple.
Mirai Tech founder and NU Professor Gulnur Kalimuldina highlights the role of the university ecosystem and the support of partners in the startup’s development.
“For us, this recognition is also confirmation that research developed in Kazakhstan can grow into technology products with global potential. The NU ecosystem has played an important role in Mirai Tech’s development, alongside the support of our investors, partners, mentors, and the international community. NU Impact Foundation has helped us move from university research toward commercialization and international markets,” said Gulnur Kalimuldina.
Today, Mirai Tech is developing as an international sports-tech company. Its team is working to make biomechanical data accessible to professional sports teams and athletes in real-world training and competition environments.
In 2026, the startup also received recognition through the WIPO Global Awards, advanced its project through the StartX ecosystem in Silicon Valley, and won the Startup World Cup Kazakhstan 2026, earning the opportunity to represent Kazakhstan at the competition’s global final in San Francisco.
The result at the WT Innovation World Cup USA 2026 adds to Mirai Tech’s growing international track record and highlights the potential of research developed at NU to reach the global technology market.
