NU Faculty Receive International Recognition from Advance HE

Fourteen faculty members of Nazarbayev University have received professional recognition from Advance HE, a UK-based organization dedicated to advancing teaching excellence and academic leadership in higher education.

The status of Senior Fellow (SFHEA) was awarded to Aida Nuranova, professional learning and development expert, and Syed Hani Abidi, Associate Professor at the School of Medicine.

Twelve additional faculty members received the status of Fellow (FHEA), which confirms alignment with international standards of teaching in higher education. The recipients include instructors from the School of Sciences and Humanities Edyta Denst-Garcia, Zhanbota Myrzakul, Diana Kopbayeva, Bakhtiar Naghdipour, and Arturo Fernández Bellido; Assistant Professors from the Graduate School of Education Alper Calikoglu and Oliver Mutanga, as well as postdoctoral researcher Assel Sharimova; Teaching Fellow at the Center for Preparatory Studies Michael Johnson; Assistant Professor at the School of Medicine Kuanysh Yergaliyev and instructor of the same school Lyazzat Toleubekova; and Associate Professor at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences Asma Perveen.

In the UK higher education system, the statuses of Fellow (FHEA) and Senior Fellow (SFHEA) represent professional recognition of teaching excellence. They are awarded to educators who demonstrate effective teaching practice and contribute to the development of academic programs and the wider academic community.

Receiving these distinctions reflects the growing international recognition of the Nazarbayev University teaching community and its commitment to high standards in education and academic development.
