NU Wins Silver at HKUST-SINO One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition
A team from Nazarbayev University (NU) has won the Silver Award in the International Student Track of the prestigious HKUST-SINO One Million Dollar Entrepreneurship Competition, earning international recognition and a prize of HK$25,000.
The winning team represents the Biosensors Laboratory of NU’s National Laboratory Astana, led by Professor Daniele Tosi. Their project introduces an advanced optical fiber biosensing platform capable of detecting breast cancer biomarkers with high sensitivity and precision.
The NU team competed against top universities including Cornell University, the University of Oxford, National Taiwan University and the National University of Singapore. The competition, now in its 15th year, brought together 89 student teams from 22 countries and regions, highlighting its global impact.
