A total of 14 early childhood education professionals, including defectologists, speech therapists, and psychologists of 12 capital state kindergartens and one state kindergarten in Karaganda, took part in a two–day training session. The free training was led by a specialist from the University of Illinois, USA – Nikki Donnelly.

The article Oscillations of retaining wall subject to Grob’s swelling pressure was published in Scientific Reports (Nature), the 5th most cited journal. This paper considers the single-degree-of-freedom nonlinear problem describing the essential dynamics of an oscillating retaining wall based on non-quaking ground and subject to Grob’s swelling pressure.

Holder of the doctoral degree in Language Education and author and co-author of numerous scholarly articles and books, Anas Hajar, explores motivation issues in language learning and intercultural interaction. He researches shadow education phenomena, internationalization, education abroad, and language learning strategies.

Could you please tell us about your educational and professional background?I studied Political Science at Karaganda State University from 2000 to 2004, then did my Master’s degree at Central European University (Public Policy, Decentralization Stream) from 2005 to 2006. After that, I worked as a researcher and project manager at Public Policy Research Center, then as an analyst, manager, and eventually a Deputy CEO at the National Analytical Center.

Professor also dreams of launching a nanosatellite, the development of which has already begun jointly with the space agencies of Kazakhstan and India. He spoke about these and other projects in our rubric interview.

Assistant Professor Viktor Brus from NU SSH and international co-workers reported highly transparent organic photoactive materials and published “Unraveling Device Physics of Dilute-Donor Narrow-Bandgap Organic Solar Cells with Highly Transparent Active Layers” in Advanced Materials volume 34, issue 31. They claim that next-generation photovoltaics will be lightweight, flexible, and (semi)transparent.

Organic photovoltaics offer sustainable, solution-processable, and cost-effective integrated energy harvesting solutions. While opaque organic solar cells underwent enormous progress in the past decade, it remains challenging to reach high performance and transparency in the visible spectral range simultaneously.

Scientists from Singapore, Japan, Korea, USA, Russia, Taiwan, Switzerland, Turkey, and Kazakhstan presented their theses this year. About 160 people, representatives of such international universities as Nanyang Technological University (Singapore), Georgia Institute of Technology (USA), Tokyo Metropolitan University (Japan), Moscow State University (Russia), Ural Federal University (Russia), National Taiwan University and others participated in the conference.

Can you tell us a little bit about your education and professional experience?In 2011, I received my bachelor’s degree from the University of Buffalo, American State University of New York, majoring in Finance. At the same time, I worked at Aquasol Corporation as an international sales manager.
