As part of the larger theme taken by NUFYP in 2016-2017 academic year to highlight the importance of renewable energy resources to combat global warming and support sustainable economy, the physics team launched the Solar Car Project to be performed by Physics Students during the second half of the first semester (only 7 weeks). The physics cohort is divided into teams of 3 or 4 students each.

In one application users in real-time will be able to track the movement of public transport, departure and arrival status of international and domestic flights, as well as to get acquainted with the schedule of trains, electric trains and intercity buses. Application is convenient for metropolitan motorists students; the function to check fines traffic rules is available.

On May 24, Christine Lagarde, Managing Director of the International Monetary Fund, spoke with NU staff and students on the current and prospective global and regional environment, as well as the challenges and opportunities for Kazakhstan, the Caucasus, and the Central Asia region. Lagarde said that Kazakhstan needs to implement a new generation of reforms which will make Kazakhstan’s economy more productive.

On March 17, 2016 Ms. Dariga Nazarbayeva, Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan, paid her visit to NU.

Until February 7, 2016 in all the 17 cities of Kazakhstan passes the first stage of entrance examinations, APTIS test, which is conducted byNU partner, British Council. APTIS test consists of 75 test exercises with 3 modules – reading, grammar and vocabulary, multiple choice answers to each task.
