This autumn the Fab Lab of the Innovation cluster of the NU in cooperation with Tel-AvivUniversity Friends Association supported by “Astana Zhastary” run the social event In Nur-Sultan city called Makeathon “TOM: Nur-Sultan”. Recently, NU hosted an Orientation Week for new students. This annual event introduces students to all aspects and features of student life at NU, including its history, traditions, rules and regulations.

The Harvard College Project for Asian and International Relations 2019 Asia Conference (HPAIR 2019 Asia Conference) started today at NU. HPAIR Asia Conference 2019 is a five-day international youth conference held since 1991 in the largest cities of Asia (43 conferences in 12 different countries), which for the first time in history takes place in Central Asia.

Recently we interviewed Akmaral Shalgimbayeva – a graduate of NU’s Graduate School of Education, specializing in “Master of Science in Leadership in Education” – about her social project of an online school for foster parents. This past week the international Castelloli Smart Scooter Challenge competition was held in a picturesque corner of Spain. Students from different countries had a chance to participate with their self-made scooters on the racing track Parkmotor de Castelloli.

Have you ever thought about buying an electric scooter? Or about whether it is possible to assemble one yourself? Or maybe even print one with a 3D printer? Students on the “NU TEAM” have developed a new model of electric kick scooter working with the Innovation Cluster of NU – NURIS. The team has worked for over four months on the model that they have given the code name “SteelG”.

Researchers at NU and the National Laboratory Astana are studying the effect of mobile phone frequency electromagnetic fields for the treatment of age-related dementia. The scientists started investigating opportunities for how radiofrequency electromagnetic fields could be used in Alzheimer’s disease (AD) therapy, and they selected a frequency of 918 MHz because it is so commonly used in mobile phones.

The NU Cultural Center opened last July. Since then, the center has been welcoming all guests all year round.
