GSPP PhD student Daulet Akhmetov and GSPP Associate Professor Peter Howie published the article “COVID-19 and the Power Industry Response: the Case of Kazakhstan” in the International Association of Energy Economics’ “Energy Forum”. Today our interview is with Bakhytzhan Baptayev, a graduate of the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, who this year successfully defended his doctoral dissertation in the “Science, Engineering and Technology / Materials Science and Engineering” program. What is the subject of your dissertation?My PhD research focused on a type of 3rd generation solar cells.

A group of researchers from the Graduate School of Public Policy: Stefanos Xenarios, Ronan Shenhav, Iskandar Abdullaev, and Alberto Mastellari, reviewed water security in Central Asia. The subject of their research was the issues of transboundary water resources in Central Asia, problems of water resources management, and climate change in the region.
