More than 60 representatives of foreign diplomatic missions were invited to the event that aims to promote intercultural communication and mutual respect, to strengthen cooperation between NU and foreign countries. At the opening of the evening, music was performed by the Student Orchestra.
The event was organized on the eve of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. 75 nationalities from 51 countries, many of whom are NU faculty and students, performed on the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation stage within an international pop-symphony orchestra.
Today, NU President Shigeo Katsu welcomed President of the 76th session of the United Nations General Assembly Abdulla Shahid at the campus, showed him the University’s master plan, and gave him a brief tour of the campus. The honored guest was informed about research projects and visited the laboratorу at the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) and the Energetic Cosmos Laboratory.
The First NU Workshop for Alumni was held on June 18th in Nur-Sultan and June 25th in Almaty. NU alumni had a chance to visit their alma mater, meet their groupmates, receive essential updates on University’s progress from NU leadership, and listen to speakers from Jusan bank, industry leaders, and management from NURIS Cluster.
At the event, the NU President Shigeo Katsu, NU Provost Adesida Ilesanmi, the vice-president Kadisha Dairova, and the head of the Association of International Students (AOIS) Mohammad Habib Abdullah greeted all international students with welcoming speeches. Then, the NU President Shigeo Katsu handed the first Exceptional Graduating International Student’s Award to an international student from Ethiopia, Kebir Mohammed Jemal, who has recently graduated with an honorary Master of Engineering Management from the NU School of Engineering and Digital Sciences (NU SEDS).
As part of Africa Day, the Embassies organized small expositions for visitors to learn about these countries’ history, rich culture, and cuisine. Starting from the foundation of the Organization of African Unity on May 25, 1963, this Day is celebrated annually.
On June 17, 2022, NU hosted a debate tournament, “Seeing the Unseen,” among students of the capital’s universities, organized by the Debate Club Nomad student club with support from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA). Twenty-four students from four educational institutions took part in the tournament.
On June 10, 2022, NU hosted the VIII graduation ceremony. This is the first ceremony to honor alumni on the University campus after two years of restrictions because of Covid-2019.
The event gathered students, researchers, and faculty members in biomedicine, engineering, and biology fields. The book provides a comprehensive overview of the field of fiber optic sensors using an interdisciplinary approach that covers the fabrication of sensing devices and optical hardware, the functionalization to perform selective biorecognition, and the main applications of biosensors, with a present and a future outlook.
The decree is published on the Akorda website. Yerlan Ramankulov, head of the National Center of Biotechnology of the Ministry of Health and Associate Professor at NU School of Science and Humanities, was awarded the Order of “Kurmet” for his great contribution to the socio-economic development of the country and special merits in scientific activity.
