Scientists from the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI), founded by NU School of Engineering and Digital Sciences Professor Hussein Atakan Varol, presented their projects to international students and explained what data they use and from what sources. The Institute researches human/machine interaction and collaboration, augmented/virtual reality, industrial internet of things, power and energy management, bioinformatics, medical imaging, human augmentation, neural interfaces, AI-integrated wearables for diagnostics, natural language processing, smart city, sensor networks, edge computing, and cybersecurity.
On October 7, professors and students of the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, led by Chair Essam Shehab, participated in the “World Space Week: Space Technology and Patents” meeting. The National Institute of Intellectual Property (QazPatent) organized the event as part of World Space Week.

Information sessions were held on the House of Friendship building’s two floors. NU faculty and staff explained to the Almaty residents about the admissions and education procedures at the University within the School’s exhibition.
This year, Arman Bolatov, a third-year undergraduate student majoring in Computer Science, participated in IMC from NU. It is the second gold to the University’s piggy bank after Batyrkhan Orynkul, who took first place in 2016.
Orientation Week begins with new students checking in, signing the Learning Services Agreement, and handing them welcome packets during campus tours. New students will learn how to navigate the campus before they begin their studies, become familiar with the University Library resources, and learn how to use the learning platform to track professors’ assignments and register for courses.
The monograph “Introduction to Educational Research: Theory, Methods, and Practices” is published in Kazakh and Russian. It will be helpful for graduate and doctoral students and school and college teachers interested in conducting research.
