On June 10, 2023, NU Graduate School of Business and Duke University’s FUQUA School of Business signed a Strategic Partnership Agreement for 2023-2026. Within the framework of this partnership, events will be held aimed at improving the academic processes within the School, joint research, conferences and symposiums.
On June 10, 2023, NU (NU) hosted its highly anticipated 9th Graduation Ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the academic journey of its graduates. The grand event took place at the university’s Main Hall, attracting over 2,000 attendees, including the graduating students themselves, proud family members, esteemed faculty, representatives from government agencies, and business leaders.
The opening ceremony marked the establishment of a representative office aimed at expanding the academic opportunities offered by the university. One of the key objectives of this expansion is to introduce new training programs tailored for executives, effective managers, and businessmen.
EN: The 1st SDSN Kazakhstan Conference on Sustainable Development Goals in Central Asia has been held at NU Graduate School of Public Policy on May 30, 2023. It was a one-day conference comprising 6 Panel Sessions including 19 conference speakers.
In her speech, President Halimah Yacob spoke about the close and mutually beneficial 30-year-long cooperation between Kazakhstan and Singapore. During her lecture, the President of Singapore focused on three main, in her opinion, areas for cooperation between the “Lion City” and the “Great Steppe” – education, gender equality and equal opportunities for all citizens, as well as interreligious dialogue.
NU is expanding academic cooperation with leading universities in the world. As part of the Alliance of Asian Universities Forum, which is taking place in the capital, NU signed two cooperation agreements: the Memorandum of Cooperation with the “Universiti Malaya”, and the “Agreement on Student Exchange” with Tsinghua University.
AMBA is one of the “triple crown” accreditation organizations for business schools with a prestigious group of only 300 schools that have earned AMBA accreditation. NUGSB is currently in stage 2 of the 3-stage process toward AMBA accreditation.
On March 6, 2023, the Country Director of the British Council – Mr Eric Lawrie, visited NU in the framework of a guest lecture series held for the university community: students, faculty and staff. In his lecture, Mr Lawrie shared his life journey story, from starting a career as a mapmaker to becoming a country director in the British Council.
The Board of Trustees of NU, headed by Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, considered the results of the University’s activities for the past year and plans for the coming period on March 4, 2023. The National Bank Chairman Galymzhan Pirmatov, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Yerulan Zhamaubayev, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov, heads of several other government agencies, NU President Shigeo Katsu and other members of the Board of Trustees participated in the meeting.
About 70 employees representing the middle management of Abay Kazakh National Pedagogical University, including department directors, deans, and department chairs, will be trained for two months on the topics: Team and human resource management, Funding and management of research projects and fundraising, Regulation of academic processes, Ensuring and improving the quality of teaching and learning, Writing a research plan/application for grant funding, The architecture of educational programs and others. Building team members’ knowledge and skills in these areas will be a big step toward achieving academic excellence at Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University.
