We continue a series of interviews with our alumni and their employers. In this interview, we will speak with current employees of “Kazzinc” Ltd, one of the leaders among non-ferrous metal producers.

NU graduates have developed a “smart” test to estimate the probability of COVID-19 infection, which is now available for everyone to take at home. The test is in the form of a survey with questions and possible answers and is based on an Artificial Intelligence technology known as a neural network.

An in-depth and sophisticated understanding of their domain of study; to be intellectually agile, curious, creative, and open-minded; to be thoughtful decision-makers who know how to involve others; to be entrepreneurial, self-propelling, and able to create new opportunities, and to be prepared to take a leading role in the development of their country – these are some of the graduate attributes that NU graduates shall possess. Is merely having the NU Graduate Attributes enough to get a job in one of the Big Four companies? What else does a graduate need to know to get a good job? How do higher education institutions prepare graduates for the workforce and life after leaving university?KPMG Kazakhstan and Central Asia currently employees more than 700 people in Central Asia and more than 210 000 people around the world.

The official online opening of the “Leader of the New Formation” program, implemented by the NU Graduate School of Public Policy (hereinafter – NU GSPP), the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy of the National University of Singapore took place on September 7, 2020. The opening ceremony was attended by Timur Suleimenov, Deputy Chief of Staff of the Presidential Administration of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Anar Zhailganova, Chairperson of the Agency for Civil Service Affairs of the Republic of Kazakhstan, Shigeo Katsu, President of NU, Yerlan Abil, Rector of the Academy of Public Administration under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

The 2019 pandemic has made a difference in educational environments around the world – universities everywhere are introducing online courses and distance learning. In the spring semester, NU switched to distance learning using Moodle’s BigBlueButton, Zoom, Qualtrics, PowerPoint, electronic journals, e-books, textbooks, and other resources of the Innovation Training Center.
