Effective August 1, 2026, distinguished academic leader and internationally recognized scholar Prof. Shazim Ali Memon will assume the role of Associate Provost of the Doctoral Institute at Nazarbayev University. Prof. Memon joined the University in 2016 and has served as a professor at the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences for the past ten years.
Prof. Memon is a Senior Fellow of Advance HE (UK) and is ranked among the world’s top 2% most-cited scientists according to the Stanford–Elsevier database. He has authored numerous scholarly publications that have received approximately 12,000 citations. He earned his PhD in Civil Engineering from City University of Hong Kong. Prior to joining NU, he held professorial positions at leading universities in Pakistan.
Throughout his decade-long tenure at NU, Prof. Memon has made significant contributions to the advancement of graduate education, research strategy, academic governance, and institutional development. Under his leadership, doctoral programs were established and strengthened, while academic program governance, quality assurance systems, and operational processes were further enhanced.
In his new role, Prof. Memon will provide strategic leadership for the Doctoral Institute, supporting the University’s vision for excellence in doctoral education, research development, innovation, and international collaboration.
