At NU, Professor Zhumabay Bakenov conducts research on improving the durability of lithium-ion batteries, advanced methods of processing raw materials for battery application, and efficient battery recycling technologies. One of the problems he faces in his work is the lack of access to raw nickel that is being extracted in Kazakhstan.

A video has gone viral on TikTok, where an NU student talks about the “History of Kazakh Music” course, where students can get grades for singing. NU Associate Professor Meiramgul Kussainova, the one who offers this course, gave an interview to the Elorda.

Raquel Reinagel, who is passionate about learning languages, is famous in Kazakhstan for her blog about the country and the Kazakh language. As a Senior Teaching Fellow at the Center for Preparatory Studies at NU, she was invited to the “Oyan” the morning show on the Khabar channel, celebrating Kazakhstan People’s Languages Day.

Can 3D bioprinters create human bones in a lab? A group of scientists, led by Dana Akylbekova, professor of biomedical engineering at NU, is currently engaged in this groundbreaking project. Stem cells are sourced for this laboratory from the National Biotechnology Center, where they are extracted from rat marrow.

The competition that started in May gathered students from 32 universities across the nation to test their intellectual prowess. Each week four teams answer questions in rounds and two teams advance to the next stage.
