On April 12, 2023, the Counsellor and Deputy Head of Mission of the Royal Thai Embassy, Dr. Orathai Phubunlap Gunaseelan gave a guest lecture on topic: “Thailand’s achievement on the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG5): A perspective from the Foreign Service sphere of Thailand”.

On April 11, NU and the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding which aims to create an alliance of universities to promote gender equality and women's empowerment. The alliance will bring together faculty members, researchers, and students to share best practices, conduct research, and promote gender equality.

NU and UNDP Sign the Memorandum of Understanding

On April 11, NU and the United Nations Development Programme in Kazakhstan signed a memorandum of understanding which aims to create an alliance of universities to promote gender equality and women’s empowerment. On March 28-29, the Conference of the Sustainability Living Lab Program was held with the participation of representatives of higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan. The Sustainability Living Lab (SLL) program is implemented by the Office of Sustainable Development of NU in cooperation with the “National Conservation Initiative” Corporate Fund with the support of Chevron.

NU, Korea Institute of Civil Engineering and Building Technology (KICT), the Kazakh Ministry of Industry and Infrastructural Development, and Republican Union of Designers of Kazakhstan signed a Memorandum of Cooperation at the NU campus. The Memorandum will expand the Kazakh-Korean strategic partnership, the parties believe.

The Board of Trustees of NU, headed by Kazakh Prime Minister Alikhan Smailov, considered the results of the University's activities for the past year and plans for the coming period on March 4, 2023. The National Bank Chairman Galymzhan Pirmatov, Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Finance Yerulan Zhamaubayev, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration Timur Suleimenov, heads of several other government agencies, NU President Shigeo Katsu and other members of the Board of Trustees participated in the meeting.

Shigeo Katsu, President of NU, appeared as a distinguished guest at the Kazakh Senate's School of Analytics, where he gave a lecture titled "Kazakhstan and 2050: Is the Former Strategy Still Relevant?" in Astana on Feb. 25Outstanding economist and policy maker with over 30-year track record of evidence-based policy research and advisory across 50 countries, President Katsu, is the main editor of the Kazakhstan 2050 Strategy and one of the co-authors of the Five Institutional Reforms that Kazakhstan has set forward and committed itself to.
