LCOY Kazakhstan 2023 holds significant importance as part of YOUNGO’s mission, the official youth constituency of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), and SDSN Youth Kazakhstan. This annual conference serves as a platform for young leaders, researchers, and experts from across Kazakhstan to engage in meaningful dialogues and collaborative initiatives centered around climate change and sustainable development.

In its 30th anniversary year, the Kazakhstan Institute for Strategic Studies under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan unveiled a new monograph titled “Widening the Scope: How Middle Powers are Changing Liberal Institutionalism. ” This work expands an understanding of the role of “middle powers” in altering the logic and functioning of the current world order, which is based on international institutions.

Dara nationwide contest, organized by the Qazaqstan Channel concluded on September 24, following four months of spirited competition. A total of 32 teams representing 28 of Kazakhstan’s leading higher education institutions, with over 200 students hailing from 16 cities across the country, gathered to showcase their intellectual prowess.

As a follow-up to signing the Memorandum of Understanding in March 2023, NU and ADA University (Baku, Azerbaijan) signed an Agreement for Student Exchange in September 2023. The partnership marks a significant milestone in the global education landscape, further enhancing the ties between these two prestigious institutions from brotherly nations.

This immersive and multifaceted module was carefully crafted to empower academic leaders with the skills needed to excel in research management. Over the course of three days, participants delved into topics such as research policy formulation, strategic alignment, ethical considerations, compliance, international collaboration, postgraduate and doctoral research support, intellectual property commercialization, and even the initiation of startups.

NU (NU) and the Korea Institute of Energy Technology (KENTECH) inked the partnership agreement during the visit of the KENTECH delegation to the NU campus, bringing the two innovative and forward-looking institutions together. As part of the MoU, the parties agreed to hold joint academic events, as well as conduct faculty and student exchange programs, internship opportunities in the energy-related areas.

During the visit, Acting President, Provost Dr. Ilesanmi Adesida and Vice Provost for Academic Affairs Loretta O’Donnell took part in a round table, where the participants discussed the beginning of the new academic year at ARU, the launch of the Heriot-Watt University branch, and learned more about both universities.

On Sept. 7, NU played host to a conference dedicated to the 10th anniversary of the global Belt and Road Initiative, as well as the “Golden Age” of interaction between China and Central Asia.

The main goal of this workshop, titled “Sustainability in Natural Resource Management: Exploration, Extraction & Processing, and Supply Chains of Critical Raw Materials” is to facilitate an open exchange of perspectives among stakeholders representing the raw materials industry, the scientific community, and political institutions. At the centre was the discussion about the current situation in the raw materials industry in Kazakhstan and the potential for its further development, with a particular emphasis on its role in advancing the green and digital transformation of the economy.
