The new NU campus, located at Satpayev, 4a in Almaty and launched in June 2023, welcomed residents and guests of the southern capital on October 28. NU Day in Almaty was part of the university’s annual major recruitment campaign for prospective applicants. Preceding this, a comprehensive educational exhibition featuring prominent Kazakhstani universities took place in Almaty, with NU’s active participation.

Approximately 250 individuals participated in the Open Day. Starting early in the morning, information sessions concerning admission and academic programs at the university were arranged. Representatives from all eight schools of NU, the Career Advising Center, the NURIS Innovation Cluster, and other departments were available to address queries from applicants and their parents.

“The sessions were bustling with individuals eager to discover more about NU. Throughout the day, each faculty continuously presented their programs and fielded questions. Separate sessions were conducted in both Kazakh and Russian for the convenience of our guests. Most participants sought information regarding admission criteria for Foundation and Bachelor’s degrees, inquired about dormitory life, and expressed interest in various fields of study. Particularly, the areas of greatest interest today were IT, medicine, and social sciences,” remarked Omarbekov Nurkhan, head of the Office of Enrollment Management.

Interest in studying at NU extended to foreign applicants, with attendees from China, Uzbekistan, Mongolia, and Nigeria present at the Open Day. Traditionally, NU Days are held in various cities across Kazakhstan; travel schedules and registration details are available on the website. The applying process for the upcoming academic year (2024-25) has already commenced, and information about admission is accessible here.

The establishment of a new NU Regional Liaison Office in Almaty aims to expand the academic capabilities of the university. Numerous conferences and training sessions are already underway, focusing on enhancing the skills of executives, effective management, and business acumen.

NU will provide advanced educational programs through the NU Graduate School of Business, as well as training and masterclasses by distinguished educators in various fields. These offerings are intended for the residents of Almaty and the southern regions, aligning with the crucial goal of facilitating lifelong education.
