Nazarbayev University will host the Three Minute Thesis (3MT) Wildcard Competition on 29 October at 4:00 PM in room C3 1009, offering PhD students an additional opportunity to showcase their research and compete for a place in the University-wide 3MT Finale.

The competition invites PhD students who have participated in their respective School-level 3MT competitions to present their research in a clear, engaging, and accessible way within just three minutes, using a single static slide. Participants will represent their Schools and demonstrate their ability to communicate complex research ideas to a broad audience.

The winner of the Wildcard Competition will advance to the University-wide 3MT Finale on 25 November, joining the School-level winners to compete for the overall title.

The 3MT competition aims to showcase the breadth and impact of doctoral research at Nazarbayev University while helping PhD students strengthen their science communication, public speaking, and presentation skills. By challenging researchers to distil their work into a compelling three-minute presentation, the competition highlights the importance of communicating research beyond academic audiences.
