Record International Enrollment at NU

This year, NU has welcomed the largest cohort of international students in its history. With each new intake, the university’s global footprint continues to expand. NU is now home to students from 40 countries across the globe, ranging from the United States, Germany, and Japan to China, Vietnam, Russia, Uzbekistan, and Kyrgyzstan.

Ahead of the academic year, an orientation session was held for incoming students. The event covered key aspects of adaptation and integration, highlighting the support systems and resources available to them throughout their studies.

Addressing the newcomers, Kadisha Dairova, NU Vice President for Student Affairs and International Cooperation, shared the university’s history and spoke about alumni who are now building successful careers in Kazakhstan and internationally.

“Our graduates have forged diverse professional paths. They work in international organizations, launch their own companies and startups, and many pursue further education at the world’s top universities. From your very first year, I encourage you to actively engage in university life and seek out internships and professional development opportunities. This hands-on experience will be instrumental in shaping your own career trajectory.”

NU Vice President Assel Uvaliyeva also delivered a welcoming address, emphasizing that from the moment they enroll, international students become an integral part of the university’s legacy and contribute to its ongoing growth.

“From this moment, you are not only students of Nazarbayev University. You are also becoming part of our story. Every conversation you have with your friends back home, every photo you post, every experience you share, and every impression you take with you helps shape how people around the world see Kazakhstan and Nazarbayev University. Every student becomes an ambassador of the university. We invest a lot in building partnerships around the world, participating in international fairs, visiting schools, and telling prospective students about NU. But nothing is more powerful than the authentic experience of our own students.”
