A Nazarbayev University (NU) delegation, led by Vice Presidents Kadisha Dairova and Assel Uvaliyeva, paid a working visit to leading educational and scientific centers in Russia, holding several meetings with government and business representatives.
During the trip, the delegation visited the Higher School of Economics in Moscow, as well as top universities in Tatarstan: Kazan Federal University, Kazan National Research Technical University (KNRTU-KAI), Innopolis University, and the Higher School of Petroleum. NU representatives also met with high school students in Kazan to present the university’s academic programs and admission requirements.
The official agenda included talks with Dauren Abaev, Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Russia, Yerlan Iskakov, Consul General of Kazakhstan in Kazan, and Leyla Fazleeva, Deputy Prime Minister of Tatarstan. Industrial partnership opportunities were discussed during meetings with representatives of ATB bank and Tatneft.
Both sides agreed to further strengthen their ties. The main areas of cooperation will focus on developing joint projects—particularly in artificial intelligence with Innopolis University—expanding student exchange and academic mobility programs, and organizing international standardized testing.
A significant milestone in expanding this bilateral partnership is NU’s allocation of a special annual quota of educational grants for talented applicants from Tatarstan, covering undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programs. The first three grant recipients have already been selected and will begin their tuition-free studies at the university’s state-of-the-art campus in Astana in the upcoming academic year.
