Nazarbayev University’s Research Centre for Entrepreneurship (NURCE) is delighted to announce the international conference “Voices at the Margins: Rethinking Gender, Labor, and Belonging” taking place 15–17 November 2025 at Nazarbayev University, Kazakhstan — in collaboration with the Gender, Work & Organization Journal.
This workshop is funded as part of Professor Waqar Ahmad FAcSS PhD BA initiative to celebrate Nazarbayev University’s 15th Anniversary and is further supported by the Ministry of Science & Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
Call for Papers
We welcome submissions exploring gender, work, labor, belonging, and knowledge production from the margins — particularly perspectives from the Global South and Central Asia.
Themes include (but are not limited to):
- Gendered experiences of labor, care, entrepreneurship, leadership, and organization
- Community-based, spiritual, or ancestral knowledge systems as frameworks for organizing
- Post-socialist transitions and their gendered implications
- Resistance economies, collective care, and cooperative labor
- Reflexive, storytelling, and visual methods
- Reimagining academic hierarchies and epistemic justice
