NU hosted a second expert discussion of the “Jana Qazaqstan” intellectual space. In June 2022, Maulen Ashimbayev, the speaker of the Senate of the Parliament of Kazakhstan, stressed the importance of the platform for joint discussion of the agenda of the New Kazakhstan and initiatives on strategic directions of development of the republic, at the space opening and its first discussion.
During the discussion, participants discussed the role of the military factor in contemporary international relations. Professor Rustam Burnashev of Kazakh-German University spoke about the transformation of international relations, the geopolitical and ideological goals of military conflicts, and the economy in the war period.
Military analyst Yermek Seytbattalov elaborated on international historical aspects of military operations, as well as the activities of the UN and other organizations. Military analyst Agil Rustamzadeh and Emin Jabbarov, a senior lecturer at M. Narikbayev KAZGYU and master of science in international security of Bristol University, also participated in the discussion.
Instead of the planned two hours, the meeting lasted for three hours and captivated the audience with the topic’s relevance. Participants asked many insightful questions.
The “Jana Qazaqstan” project includes guest meetings at NU with prominent Kazakhstani and international intellectuals and discussions on current topics of the domestic and international agenda.
