European Union to Fund Kazakh Research in Sustainable Development

Can Kazakh researchers participate and significantly contribute to the European Union innovation projects? How are Central Asian countries, including Kazakhstan, addressing climate change and socio-economic challenges, and why is higher education considered a key player in promoting a culture of sustainable development? These and other topics are being discussed at the 2nd Sustainable Development Solutions Network (SDSN) Conference on May 13-14 at NU (NU). It is dedicated to localizing the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Central Asian sectors and enhancing cooperation with European organizations in sustainable development and green energy.

The official ceremony to honor and present the award took place on May 2, 2024, in Washington, DC, United States, during the 2024 AAHCI Global Innovation Forum. The AAHCI Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals for their extraordinary commitment, leadership, and service in enhancing the effectiveness of academic health centers worldwide in patient care, biomedical research, and health professions education.

The official ceremony to honor and present the award took place on May 2, 2024, in Washington, DC, United States, during the 2024 AAHCI Global Innovation Forum. The AAHCI Distinguished Service Award recognizes individuals for their extraordinary commitment, leadership, and service in enhancing the effectiveness of academic health centers worldwide in patient care, biomedical research, and health professions education.

During the course «Robots for Rehabilitation» by Associate Professor Prashant Jamwal, students from the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, as well as the School of Medicine, collaborated to create functional prototypes of robots that can be used for rehabilitation purposes in hospitals. Representatives from the National Agency for Development of Innovations «QazInnovations», «Jas Ventures» LLP, and the National Center for Children's Rehabilitation were invited to present the final projects.

During the course «Robots for Rehabilitation» by Associate Professor Prashant Jamwal, students from the School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, as well as the School of Medicine, collaborated to create functional prototypes of robots that can be used for rehabilitation purposes in hospitals. The signing ceremony took place within the framework of the 2nd Conference of the Eurasian Academic Alliance for Global Health, which was taking place in Almaty. The Memorandum aims to establish and develop cooperation in education, research and health care.

The event, organized by NU in collaboration with the Institute of Mathematics and Mathematical Modeling and the International Society for Analysis, its Applications and Computation (ISAAC), brought together more than 70 people - outstanding mathematical minds from 10 countries. In his welcoming speech at the conference opening, Kazakh Vice-Minister of science and higher education Darhan Ahmed-Zaki emphasized the importance of mathematical research in the development of modern scientific and economic processes and expressed recognition of mathematical scientists for their contribution to the development of science.

The new program, called MoVE-Kaz for Molecular Virology/Epidemiology Training in Kazakhstan, is funded by a grant from the Fogarty International Center of the U.

Researchers from 11 countries working in speech recognition and synthesis, computer vision, information retrieval, natural language processing and generative models could be nominated for the prize in six categories. Pavel Braslavskii's award-winning work addresses many problems, from computational humour to question answering and transfers learning between domains and languages.
