On April 10, 2018, NU Library welcomed the event “Let the fairy tale live ” dedicated to the International Children’s Book Day for 20 children from “Children’s home № 1 for orphans and children left without parental care from Akkol city”, and 20 children from low-income families from Astana. As part of the holiday, children actively participated in games, guessed crossword puzzles, showed the scene “Little Red Riding Hood” in English, and each child received a book as a gift.

Academics from the UK and Kazakhstan had worked together to discuss the challenges and opportunities associated with the transition to the mandatory social health insurance in Kazakhstan at the workshop in March 26-27, 2018 in Astana at NU. In 2015, a group of researchers from the London School of Economics (LSE) and NU received a Newton Fund Institutional Links Programme research grant from the British Council for the project titled “Macroeconomic Effects of the Health Policy Reform in Kazakhstan”.

After months of hard work on a unique ultra-energy-efficient car in the Technopark NU, “NU Team” tested their car at one of the most prestigious student competitions in the world. The car was designed and assembled by the students of three NU Schools: School of Engineering, School of Science and Technology, School of Humanities and Social Sciences.

On March 14, 2018, in the course of the official visit to the Republic of Kazakhstan, the delegation of the Republic of Korea headed by Mr. Chung Sye Kyun (Speaker of the National Assembly of the Republic of Korea) visited NU.

On February 18-21, 2018 Association of International Education Administrators (AIEA) held its annual professional conference with the theme “The Internationalization Imperative in Turbulent Times”. This year around 1000 senior international officers from 40 countries gathered to discuss the trends, changes and challenges in the internationalization of higher education.

Global Entrepreneurship Monitor: Kazakhstan 2016/2017 report is based on data collected in the Republic of Kazakhstan under the direction of the Graduate School of Business (GSB) of NU in collaboration with the JSC “Economic Research Institute”. The goal of this report is to track the state of entrepreneurship in Kazakhstan against the background of relevant comparison groups.

To support the State Program “Digital Kazakhstan”, within a three-month period, from February to April, NU faculty will give seminars on digitalization to RK government officials and representatives. The goal of the seminars is the development of abilities and skills for the digital economy and upgrading of digital literacy.

We are pleased to invite you to the ABC Weekend, one of the biggest events of ABC Incubation program for young entrepreneurs, students and innovators, which will take place on 16-18 February, 2018 at Technopark of NU. The program of the event includes pitching and team building master classes, seminars on such topics as “Presentation for the investor”, “Startup business model”, “Lean startup” and first stage of the selection to the program.
