On June 7-8, 2018, the VII Eurasian Higher Education Leaders’ Forum (EHELF) dedicated to innovating higher education in the age of disruption took place at NU. EHELF is an annual forum that seeks to bring leaders in the field of education together to debate, and participate in lively discussion on issues faced by higher education leaders around the world.

On June 7-8, 2018, the VII Eurasian Higher Education Leaders’ Forum (EHELF) dedicated to innovating higher education in the age of disruption took place at NU. EHELF is an annual forum that seeks to bring leaders in the field of education together to debate, and participate in lively discussion on issues faced by higher education leaders around the world.

On June 6, 2018, a video with the false title was posted on Mukhtar Ablyazov Youtube channel and the title has no connection to the content of the video. A deliberately false title brings damage to the reputation and brand of NU.

On May18-19, 2018, the "III Annual Conference on Academic Integrity and Internationalization", organized by NU and the KAZGUU Higher School of Economics named after M. Narikbaev (and with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan - Elbasy), took place in Astana.

NU, together with KazGUU, held a conference on Academic Integrity

On May18-19, 2018, the “III Annual Conference on Academic Integrity and Internationalization”, organized by NU and the KAZGUU Higher School of Economics named after M. Narikbaev (and with the support of the Foundation of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan – Elbasy), took place in Astana.

On 17 and 18 of May, 2018, within the framework of Astana Economic Forum “Global Challenges Summit 2018” (AEF), NU hosted a series of meetings with key speakers from the AEF event. Students, teachers, and staff had an opportunity to attend 16 public lectures given by well-known experts and entrepreneurs: the founder of Shazam - Chris Barton, the famous film director - Krzysztof Zanussi, the gerontologist and mathematician - Aubrey de Gray, and many others.

A unique series of meetings with the speakers of AEF 2018 were held at NU

On 17 and 18 of May, 2018, within the framework of Astana Economic Forum “Global Challenges Summit 2018” (AEF), NU hosted a series of meetings with key speakers from the AEF event. Students, teachers, and staff had an opportunity to attend 16 public lectures given by well-known experts and entrepreneurs: the founder of Shazam – Chris Barton, the famous film director – Krzysztof Zanussi, the gerontologist and mathematician – Aubrey de Gray, and many others.

On April 26, 2018, Professor İlber Ortaylı gave a lecture on “The Turkic World and Current Issues in Turkology”. During the talk, which was organized jointly with the Yunus Emre Center (Astana) and the Department of Kazakh Language and Turkic Studies in the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, participants discussed: the importance of studying ancient history and philology, developments in the 19th century for understanding the current situation, studying literature for having a deeper command of modern Turkic languages including Kazakh, as well as the importance of more modern genrese of cultural production such as theater and film.

Current Issues in Turkology were discussed at NU

On April 26, 2018, Professor İlber Ortaylı gave a lecture on “The Turkic World and Current Issues in Turkology”. The conference was a culmination of a year-long capstone course that has allowed ten graduating fourth-year SHSS students majoring in either Anthropology or Sociology to conduct original research and present their findings to members of the department, the SHSS community and the larger community of Astana, Kazakhstan.

On Saturday, April 7th, 2018, the Department of Sociology and Anthropology of the School of Humanities and Social Sciences (SHSS), held its first annual undergraduate capstone conference. The conference was a culmination of a year-long capstone course that has allowed ten graduating fourth-year SHSS students majoring in either Anthropology or Sociology to conduct original research and present their findings to members of the department, the SHSS community and the larger community of Astana, Kazakhstan.

On April 10, 2018, NU Library welcomed the event "Let the fairy tale live " dedicated to the International Children's Book Day for 20 children from "Children's home № 1 for orphans and children left without parental care from Akkol city", and 20 children from low-income families from Astana. As part of the holiday, children actively participated in games, guessed crossword puzzles, showed the scene "Little Red Riding Hood" in English, and each child received a book as a gift.
