Today, on the day of the First President of the Republic of Kazakhstan, the Head of the State Nursultan Nazarbayev visited the new C4 NU research complex, as well as an exhibition of the university’s research projects. President Nursultan Nazarbayev is the First Chair of the Supreme Board of Trustees of NU, Nazarbayev Intellectual Schools and the Nazarbayev Fund.

NU program on training school teachers in teaching STEM subjects in English language was successfully evaluated by an international independent expert. The expert evaluated the program, and gave a positive report.

Students of NU celebrated Día de Muertos (Day of the Dead), a traditional Mexican holiday honoring ancestors. NU invited the community to learn more about Mexican culture by hosting the “COCO Fest”, its adaptation of the holiday.

On November 14, in honor or World Diabetes Day, NU School of Medicine (NUSOM) held an outreach event at a major metropolitan shopping center to educate the public about one of the most common diseases in the world – diabetes. The campaign aimed to familiarize the Kazakhstani population about the symptoms, treatment and problems related to the disease, to overcome public indifference, to encourage early screening, and to spread a culture of blood sugar control.

A team of researchers from NU seasonally sampled topsoil across a 2,000 km north-south gradient in Kazakhstan and analysed the physical and chemical compositions (i. e.

The novel ion accelerator facility INURA (Innovative NU’s Research Accelerator) was recently installed at NU, on the 1st floor of building S4. It was with excitement that NU used the facility to produce its first ion beam! Successful construction of the facility was the culmination of five years of effort, made possible by funding from the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan, through the state target program – “NU-Berkeley Strategic Initiative in Warm-Dense Matter, Advanced Materials and Energy Sources”.
