NU Joins the World’s Largest Database to Share PhD Dissertations Globally.

Nazarbayev University (NU) has partnered with ProQuest, part of Clarivate and the world’s leading platform for graduate research, to make its doctoral dissertations available to scholars in more than 150 countries. The agreement marks a major step in NU’s mission to elevate the visibility and impact of Central Asian research on the global stage.

Signed by Acting Provost Loretta O’Donnell, the agreement allows NU’s tagged PhD dissertations to be harvested from the university’s institutional repository and integrated into ProQuest Dissertations & Theses Global, the largest and most comprehensive database of graduate work worldwide. The collaboration protects author rights while ensuring NU’s scholarship enters the international research conversation.

“This is a landmark agreement that we have diligently pursued for several years,” said Prof. Luis Ramon Rojas-Solórzano, Associate Provost for Graduate Studies at NU. “It now empowers us to showcase the exceptional, thought-provoking research produced by our graduates—guided by world-class supervisors and bolstered by our invaluable support staff—to the global academic and scientific community. This step not only elevates NU’s profile but also contributes to the broader advancement of knowledge in Central Asia and beyond.”

“By archiving NU PhD theses in ProQuest’s global database, we not only preserve our researchers’ valuable work but also make sure that it becomes part of the worldwide scholarly conversation. This initiative also complements NU Library’s broader efforts to advance open access, including maintaining our institutional repository and promoting open access publishing,” added Library General Expert Tolkyn Jangulova.

By integrating its PhD research with the world’s largest dissertation database, NU is giving its graduates a powerful platform to share their findings, inspire new partnerships, and drive innovation from Central Asia to the global stage.
