The event was organized on the eve of the Congress of Leaders of World and Traditional Religions. 75 nationalities from 51 countries, many of whom are NU faculty and students, performed on the Palace of Peace and Reconciliation stage within an international pop-symphony orchestra. They played the Kazakh song Bapish “Kara zhorga”, Fantasie on the theme of Abay “Zhelsiz tunde zharyk ai”, a fragment “Polovtsian Dances” from the opera “Prince Igor” by Alexander Borodin, G. Caccini (V. Vavilov) “Ave Maria”, Vangelis “Conquest of paradise”. The orchestra was led by the honored conductor Alexander Belyakov.
The record attempt took place in advance at NU, where the participants registered officially. The Guinness Book of Records representatives recorded the performance of the orchestra and the number of musicians. The akimat of the capital submitted the official application.
Each participant in the “Music of the World” international project, initiated by the Kazakh producer Daut Shaikhislamov, received a certificate for the Guinness Book of World Records event. According to the organizers, the project demonstrates Kazakhstan’s role in promoting the ideas of interethnic and interfaith harmony in the country and beyond.
“Participation in this event confirms that you share the affirmation of peace, harmony and understanding as unshakable principles of human existence and strive to achieve mutual respect and tolerance between religions, confessions, nations, and ethnic groups,” says a certificate of honor.
It is worth noting that NU has almost 7,000 students, including 200 international students from 30 countries, who bring a variety of perspectives and allow local students to develop friendships and global professional networks. Our faculty members have PhDs, they are research-active and come from 58 countries.
