National Laboratory Astana (NLA), in collaboration with the Office of Sustainable Development (OSD) at Nazarbayev University, invites you to the seminar “Water Budget of Kazakhstan: A Transboundary View from Space and Ground”.
The seminar will present the results of a research project conducted in 2024–2026, covering five major river basins in Kazakhstan: Zhaiyk-Caspian, Yesil, Tobol-Torgai, Nura-Sarysu, and Irtysh.
Participants will learn about changes in water balance over the past 20 years, the impacts of climate change on river flows, and the use of satellite observations and hydrological data for water resource monitoring. The seminar will also feature a demonstration of the interactive WaterBalance Kazakhstan geoportal and discussions on the practical application of research findings for sustainable water resource management.
