The School of Sciences and Humanities invites students, researchers, and faculty to a guest lecture by Dr. Talant Mawkanuli (University of Washington, Seattle).
This lecture will explore the historical and linguistic significance of Middle Steppe Turkic texts from the Qazaq Khanate period. Dr. Mawkanuli will discuss key linguistic features of these texts and examine the challenges of analyzing historical Qazaq language materials, including script variation and orthographic inconsistency. The talk will also highlight approaches to the morphological processing of Arabic script-based Qazaq texts and their importance for linguistic and historical research.
The lecture will be particularly valuable for students interested in the history of the Kazakh language, Turkic studies, historical linguistics, and the history of Kazakhstan.
