At Nazarbayev University, groundbreaking research depends on a foundation of trust, ethics, and accountability. The Office of Research Compliance and Integrity (ORCI) exists to support that foundation providing oversight, guidance, and educational resources that help ensure every research activity at NU meets the highest standards of academic and scientific integrity.
Whether you are a faculty member launching a new study, a staff member supporting a research team, or a student conducting your first independent project, ORCI is here to help you navigate the policies and procedures that govern responsible research. We believe that compliance and integrity aren’t just regulatory checkboxes, they are essential to producing research the university, the scientific community, and the public can trust.
Our office coordinates several specialized committees and programs, including the Institutional Research Ethics Committee (NU IREC), the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (NU IACUC), and the Biological and Chemical Safety Committee (NU BCSC), along with initiatives on Responsible Conduct of Research, Research Misconduct prevention, and Conflict of Interest management. Together, these resources form a comprehensive support system for the entire NU research community.
