Welcome to the Conference on Antimicrobial Resistance at Nazarbayev University School of Medicine!

Antimicrobial resistance (AMR) is one of the most serious threats to global health. In response to this challenge, World AMR Awareness Week (18-24 November) is held annually – a global campaign aimed at raising awareness and understanding of the issue through effective communication, education, and cross-sectoral collaboration.

In support of these efforts, the conference “Antimicrobial Stewardship to Combat Antimicrobial Resistance: A One Health Perspective” will take place in Astana on 19-20 November 2026, organized by the National Center for Public Health, the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Office in Kazakhstan, and the Regional Environmental Centre for Central Asia (CAREC).

The conference will bring together experts, researchers, and representatives of the healthcare and veterinary sectors to discuss key issues in antimicrobial resistance, including antimicrobial stewardship, the One Health approach, surveillance, infection prevention and control, as well as policy and practice. The program includes plenary sessions, regional experience from Central Asian countries, and expert panel discussions.
On November 18, 2026, before the conference, a series of practical workshops will be held, covering antimicrobial stewardship, infection control, microbiology, and scientific publication preparation.

We invite healthcare and veterinary professionals, researchers, academia, partner organizations and government representatives to join the discussion and exchange experience to advance effective solutions in the fight against antimicrobial resistance.
