Our next NU Step to PhD rubric guest is Bakhytzhan Kurmanov, who has recently successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the Graduate School of Public Policy. In 2017, Bakhytzhan became one of the first doctoral students of the GSPP.

A mobile application for cough analysis was developed by School of Medicine and School of Engineering and Digital Sciences researchers. The main purpose behind the Cough Analyzer, – this is the name developers chose for their application, is to record, analyze and differentiate cough sounds.

Our next speaker is Professor Zhandos Utegulov, a scientist who was at the origin of the founding of the Department of Physics at NU. In the interview, the professor spoke about his work in the United States, recalled how the Department of Physics was founded, and explained his interest in lasers and their applications for materials science and optical sensors.

A team of ambitious and talented individuals launched an innovative startup project called @smartestprep, it received funding in the amount of $50,000 from Quest Ventures. The sponsor and partner of Quest Ventures is Singapore’s largest venture capital company Temasek.

A computer voice will now be able to read Kazakh text. This was made possible thanks to a new project of scientists from the Institute of Smart Systems and Artificial Intelligence (ISSAI) of NU.
