NU to Present Research-Driven Vision at Times Higher Education Eurasia Universities Summit

University leadership to join global dialogue on research as a catalyst for regional development.

Nazarbayev University (NU) will take part in the Times Higher Education (THE) Eurasia Universities Summit, which will convene on 24–25 September 2025 at the Heydar Aliyev Center in Baku, Azerbaijan. This prestigious summit brings together university leaders, policymakers, and researchers from across Europe and Asia to explore how transnational research can drive social and economic progress.

The two-day event will feature keynote speeches, interactive panel discussions, and networking opportunities, with a central focus on strengthening cross-border partnerships, supporting the UN Sustainable Development Goals, and advancing global research impact.

NU President Professor Waqar Ahmad and Dr. Aida Sagintayeva, Vice-Provost for Academic Planning and Budget and Dean of the Graduate School of Education, will join Dr. Elchin Babayev, Rector of Baku State University, for a high-profile panel discussion titled: “How can universities in Eurasia make research a driver for regional development?

This dynamic session will explore how universities across Eurasia can harness the power of research to advance regional progress, transforming cutting-edge discoveries into actionable, context-aware solutions.

Nazarbayev University will showcase how a research-intensive institution in Central Asia can serve as a hub for educational and socio-economic transformation. By showcasing its model, NU aims to offer a roadmap for universities in the Global South to move from knowledge consumers to co-creators of globally relevant innovation.
