On the 15th of November, at Scopus Awards Kazakhstan 2022 ceremony in Astana, NU received a Scopus Award in “Research Excellence” nomination. Also, eight NU scientists received an award for research achievements in their field.
Congratulations to our scientists with prestigious awards at the Kazakhstan Research Award Ceremony from Elsevier’s Scopus!

2. Daniel Hernández-Torrano, Associate Professor, Graduate School of Education;
3. Zhumabay Bakenov, Vice-Dean for Research, School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, Acting Director of the Center for Energy and Advanced Materials Science, National Laboratory Astana;
4. Ferhat Karaca, Associate Professor, School of Engineering and Digital Sciences, Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering;

The international Scopus Awards is an objective indicator of the achievements of scientists. The contribution of an individual author to the development of national science is measured by the number of published scientific articles and their citations in international journals and excludes subjective assessment. The number of published articles is indexed using the SCOPUS database, the world’s largest multidisciplinary abstract database, which contains more than 23,000 titles of scientific, technical, and medical journals from 7,000 international publishers.
The Elsevier Company, a recognized leader in the field of scientific information, together with the governments of countries, has been awarding outstanding researchers and young scientists of the world for many years.
The program and awards ceremony was held at the Sheraton Astana. The event started with the opening speech by Sayasat Nurbek, Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
“I believe that if we all combine our experience, competencies and strengths, we can make a real contribution to socio-economic growth and development, thereby helping to make this world a better place for our children and us,” said the Minister.
As a part of the Award ceremony program, there was a round table inviting all award winners to discuss the Future of research in Kazakhstan and to share their experiences.
