Since 2014, scientists of NU and the A. H. Margulan Institute of Archaeology have been conducting research. According to NU Professor Paula Dupuy, radiocarbon examination showed that the first settlements in Kokentau appeared 3 thousand years BC. Over the past eight years, archaeologists have excavated more than sixty historical artifacts. Most of them date from the fourth century BC, pointed out NU archaeologist Aydin Zhunuskhanov.
