Assel Ibadulla, a graduate of Nazarbayev University and Yale, has been awarded one of just two fully funded Ph.D. scholarships at Stanford University, one of the world’s leading research institutions.
Ibadulla, who earned her undergraduate degree in Biological Sciences from Nazarbayev University, deepened her research portfolio while pursuing a master’s degree at Yale. There, she worked as a research intern at the Yale School of Medicine’s Center for Research and Innovation (ERIC) and contributed to SalivaDirect, a public health initiative that played a key role in the early detection and diagnosis of COVID-19. She will now continue her medical research at the doctoral level at Stanford.
“Ultimately, my goal is to help Kazakhstan develop effective response and prevention measures for non-communicable diseases and mental health disorders. So make the most of your student years—explore, experiment, and grow as a person,” she told a Kazakh media outlet, addressing students.
